Dear Hidden Hollow families:
1.  We can now have breakfast and lunch picked up at the same time. This will limit the number of trips families make to a school for meals. Because of this change, beginning Monday, March 23, all meals will be distributed from 8:30-11 a.m.
Another change is that starting today schools will serve any Alpine student at any neighborhood school, free of charge.

2.  Please visit our Hidden Hollow website to see our new pages about technology and wellness.   Counselor Erin Brown has added links that she feels may help our students better cope with the change of schedule and conditions.

3.  A NOTE ON TECHNOLOGY AND CHROMEBOOKS:
We just received word (about 3:45 PM today) from the district technology department about why the district’s chromebooks are struggling to work. Please read the latest message received from our Technology department, as it contains specific instructions on a proposed solution:
We apologize for the connection issues we have experienced with our Chromebooks as they have been checked out from our Alpine District schools.  We know you have seen failures when connecting or with extremely slow service. This has also meant that connections to certain sites like Canvas or Google Classroom have caused error messages as connections time out.
Connecting and filtering over 10,000 devices when they are out of our buildings is something new for us. While we tested our system, there was no way to test with that quantity. The issues we have seen with our own system were amplified by state-wide and world-wide capacity issues with so many people doing school and work at home.
At about 2:15 this afternoon, additional content filtering resources were secured and applied and our connection speeds improved dramatically. Students may need to completely shut down the Chromebook and login to see changes.  We will know more tomorrow morning as the peak of our traffic hits on whether this will resolve our issues.  You can visit alpineschools.org/onlinelearning for status updates. You can also submit a Help form at this site if you experience other issues with accounts or your online experience.
Teachers have been made aware that students should not be expected to complete assignments this week since many haven’t had access to content.  We are so proud of the great work of our students and teachers in this trying time and are working very hard to be able to keep them connected.
Sincerely,
Blaine Edman
